The pilot, announced in late 2024, involves LG CNS—the IT services arm of LG Group—and POSCO International, the trading subsidiary of POSCO. They used Injective, a Layer-1 blockchain focused on finance, to tokenize current trade receivables. The goal: reduce settlement times, increase transparency, and unlock liquidity from corporate invoices. This is a textbook application of Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization, a narrative that has driven billions in TVL across protocols like MakerDAO and Ondo Finance. But unlike those live products, this was a proof-of-concept. The participants did not deploy a single dollar of real capital. They tested a process.
Let’s dissect the claims against the infrastructure. First, the tokenization layer. No standard was disclosed. Was it an ERC-20 representing a pool of invoices, or an ERC-721 for each unique receivable? The difference matters for liquidity and legal clarity.
